چکیده
Studies on dissimilar metal welding and mechanical fastening using metallic glasses in Utsunomiya University have been introduced. Metallic glass ribbons placed between the two plates become supercooled liquid with low viscosity by resistance promote supercooling at nuggets. As a consequence, residual stress boundary formation of brittle intermetallic compounds are suppressed, resulting excellent high joint strength reproducibility. Mechanical is also demonstrated heating viscous flow forming rivets. Producing rivets bulk now under examination.

Annealing Studies on Ion Tracks in Metallic Glasses
High energetic ions can lead to the formation of long columnar defects along the ion trajectories, so called “ion tracks”. In amorphous metals, overlapping tracks produce macroscopic anisotropic growth phenomena [1]. Characterization and imaging of single ion tracks in these materials is challenging and has been successful only in a few cases using chemical etching [2], scanning probe [3] and t...
متن کاملCluster-assembled metallic glasses
A bottom-up approach to nanofabricate metallic glasses from metal clusters as building blocks is presented. Considering metallic glasses as a subclass of cluster-assembled materials, the relation between the two lively fields of metal clusters and metallic glasses is pointed out. Deposition of selected clusters or collections of them, generated by state-of-the-art cluster beam sources, could le...
متن کاملThermal rejuvenation in metallic glasses
Structural rejuvenation in metallic glasses by a thermal process (i.e. through recovery annealing) was investigated experimentally and theoretically for various alloy compositions. An increase in the potential energy, a decrease in the density, and a change in the local structure as well as mechanical softening were observed after thermal rejuvenation. Two parameters, one related to the anneali...
متن کاملMetallic glasses: Family traits.
The disordered atomic structure of metallic glasses gives rise to unique mechanical and physical properties such as strength and elasticity, and are being considered for a wide range of applications. However, to understand and ultimately control these properties, it is important to study their disordered structure. Seen on the macroscale, metallic glasses are isotropic and homogeneous. On the m...
